What better way to tick off this iconic cycle than by doing it in one day with the support of Open Cycling.
Starting in Seascale on the West Coast, taking in iconic passes like Hardknott and Wrynose, the lovely valleys of the Yorkshire Dales, the Vale of York and ultimately the North York Moors before finally descending to finish in Whitby.

'Bike Bus' Service Launches in the Lake District/news/Bike_Bus_Service_Launches_in_the_Lake_District_2795.html2012-05-08The route 800 service will be run by Stagecoach as part of an innovative sustainable transport programme, which aims to inspire visitors to the Lake District National Park to Drive Less See More.

The new service started on the 5th May and the buses will run at weekends and bank holidays until the summer holidays and in September. From 15 July until August 31 it will be a daily service.

The ‘bike bus' service will see specially converted buses, that are able to carry up to 12 bikes and riders, travel through the heart of the Lakes along the A591 from Windermere Railway Station to the Whinlatter Forest visitor Centre. The buses will stop at Ambleside, Rydal, Grasmere, Thirlspot, Keswick and Braithwaite on the way.

'The GB Bouldering Team is pleased to announce it has signed a new five-year deal with outdoor clothing manufacturer Lonsdale China. The deal is a major boost in the team's efforts to compete and succeed at International Federation for Sports Climbing events around the globe.


Lonsdale China is an offshoot of the well known UK brand Lonsdale, which makes boxing equipment. Lonsdale's entry into the China market comes at a time when the outdoor sector there is seeing exponential growth. Lonsdale China opened 76 shops last year.


GB Bouldering will supply Lonsdale China with images from IFSC events in return for a much needed injection of cash. The deal will allow GB Bouldering to compete in more events and focus more on training and preparation and less on raising finance for air fares.
